OFFICIAL RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. Registration:
To be eligible for the tournament prizes you must register by mailing
the attached application to Shad Tournament, P.O. Box 907, Easton, PA
18044-0907. Registration deadline is Thursday, April 24, 2008.
Registration must be received, by mail or in person, at registration
locations no later than Thursday, April 24, 2008. All registrants will
be accepted at the discretion of the
committee. Checks with insufficient funds will be charged $20 over and above bank charges. **Registrations and Gift Certificates are not refundable nor transferable.
2. Eligibility: To enter, a contestant must be 16 years old and have a current PA or NJ fishing license.
3. Weigh-in Station:
The official weigh-in station is located in Scott Park (at the Forks of
the Delaware and Lehigh Rivers, Larry Holmes Drive, Easton, PA.) The
station will be open for weigh-in daily from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.,
Saturday, April 26, 2008 - Saturday, May 3, 2008.
4. Weigh-in of Shad:
To be eligible shad must be 22" Or longer. Tournament standings will be
determined by the weight of the shad entered by a registrant,
consistent with the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission policies.
All registrants must have their fish weighed on the official scale at
the weigh-in station. Entered fish will have a fin cropped by
tournament officials for identification. ALL ENTRIES MUST BE Gutted BY
WEIGH MASTER AT WEIGH STATION. Any tampered fish will be disqualified
and registrant entering said fish will be disqualified indefinitely.
Anyone cheating in any manner will be disqualified from participation
indefinitely. All decisions of the tournament officials will be final!
5. Permitted fishing Locations: Water of Delaware River.
6.
Tackle and Lures: No snagged, netted, gigged, foul hooked or otherwise
illegally taken fish may be entered. All shad must be caught live in a
sporting manner using rod and reel and must be entered on the day it is
caught before the weigh station closes.
7.
All shad in tournament must be caught by registrant entering fish. All
fish entered for prize money become the property of the tournament.
8.
Safety: Safe boating and wading conduct must be observed. Boats must be
in compliance with PA & NJ State boating regulations with adequate
personal flotation devices on board. Personal conduct is to match PA and NJ State regulations, including 2 poles per licensed angler per boat.
9.
Winners: (a) Winning Shad will be determined by weight and will be
posted daily. (b) If lengths are identical, a tie will be broken by the
day and time the fish was entered. (c) Grand Prize winners will be
announced on Sunday, May 4, 2008 at the "Cook Out" in Scott Park and
checks will be awarded at 2:30 p.m. during the Closing Ceremony.
10.
Any daily winner not able to attend the closing ceremonies must contact
shad headquarters at 610-597-SHAD by Saturday, May 3, 2008 to arrange
delivery of check. Winners checks must be cashed within 30 days of closing ceremonies.
During
the Tournament each registrant is eligible to win ONLY ONE daily first
prize, ONLY ONE daily second prize, ONLY ONE daily third prize and ONLY
ONE OVERALL Tournament prize. No registrant may win more than ONE daily
first, ONE daily second, ONE daily third prize and ONE OVERLL prize for
duration of the tournament.

Women's Challenge
All
women who are registered in the Tournament are eligible for the Women's
Challenge. Separate money is collected for the Women's Challenge, as
not to interfere with the prize money with the overall winners. This is just a challenge only for the women. The registrant women are also eligible to win all daily prizes and
overall prizes for the Tournament. We encourage any and all of our
registrants to promote "new challenges" to the committee with sponsors.
